Goals The goal of this project is to produce an interactive multimedia "virtual gallery exhibition" prototype in a layout representing the "This Other Eden" exhibition. This project will demonstrate what is possible using available talent and technology, adequate resources and time. The virtual exhibition will be rendered using an existing 3D model of the Yale Center for British Art . The YCBA, in collaboration with the DMCA and School of Art will produce a digital media project that offers students, faculty, current and potential museum patrons and donors a virtual experience featuring selected works of "This Other Eden". This project will also promote interdisciplinary teamwork, showcase the talents and technical abilities found in the University's Arts community, and highlight the value the DMCA at Yale. Projects 1999-2000 The Digital Media Center will produce special projects for the museums and the arts library such as CD ROMs, videos, multimedia websites and other distance-learning experiments with broad bandwidth digital transmission technologies. Teacher resource guides to Yale collections on the Internet as well as virtual tours for curators will be developed for in-house planning. There are also a number of special projects grants awarded this year which will expand the definition of collaborative digital media among DMCA member organizations in the arts. The Virtual YCBA is funded as a part of this program through the generosity of an anonymous donor and the support of the Yale Center for British Art. |
