IT'S JUST BEEN LIFE

Here at
WildCat Recording, we are so proud
and privileged to present this album by one of our favorites. Doc Merwin is one
of the finest artists we have ever known, since my early days in Connecticut.
He's now one of the best players and writers in Austin, TX. I can't say too
much about him without choking up, but if you like your music "real", totally
without pretense, and from the SOUL, then this is for you! Thank you for
letting us do this, Doc, it's been a half-century overdue!
Joe Phillips, Producer
DOC'S COMMENTS:
"For this bio, I will dispense with the usual
music biz malarkey of who I played with, opened for, how great I was,
or any of that stuff, it's not important. What is important is the music I'm
doing now. This music is all recorded in
my home studio in Austin, Texas. The oldest songs here are about four years old,
and the newest are just a few weeks old, the one exception is "I Can't Blame
Nobody" which was written in 1972. They all reflect things that have happened to
me, or my views on certain subjects, or, in the case of the instrumentals, a
love of a certain style of music. All the tunes were written by me, and except
for the saxophone, played brilliantly by Barry Marshall, all the instruments
were played by me. I hope anyone who listens to this album enjoys listening to
it as much as I enjoyed making it!
I gave Joe Phillips, the Producer, almost enough material for two albums, and
have been writing new songs, so I hope enough of you get this album to justify
Joe doing a second one! I also want to thank Joe for having faith in me and my
music, and seeing to it that I have a voice in this world!"
