"I used to find any excuse to hang out on Middle Road in Hamden at the Crotty household. For me, it was the closest thing to being part of a close-knit nuclear family unit as I could have ever dreamed of. I was treated as part of the family, and I learned an awful lot about music and life in that basement. I used to live for helping out with the annual Summer trek to the Short Beach house...riding in the back of the green Ford Falcon wagon, trying to get up the balls to be the first to jump off of Sheppard's rock, patching the holes in the aluminum boat with styrofoam coffee cups melted with gasoline to form a crazy-glue-like patch, Betty's homemade cole slaw, Mr. C's world famous london broil..." -DBL
