Bob Rutman
Bobo met Bob in Watertown, MA when Bob was recording "Songs of the Steel Cello" at Derek Huntington's Perfect Crime Studio. Bob was born in 1932 in Berlin. He studied art in the States and saw a sculpture that he was compelled to play with a bass bow. He made his own versions and called them "Steel Cello" and "Bow Chimes". the Steel Cello Ensemble was formed in the seventies. Bob preferred playing with "non-musicians", people who didn't have musical backgrounds and wouldn't try to play the instruments like a traditional cello. There are still Steel Cello ensembles performing around the globe, and other artists have built their own versions and incorporate the sound into their music.
