This album always lifted my spirits, and I always remembered it (even 30 years
later) Now it is finally available on CD and it was a no brainer to add it to my
collection. I suggest you do the same especially if you like 60s Greenwich
Village wonderful funky (rhymes with Bunky) music.
I
can't believe I found this album!
Reviewer: Billy Reid
Finally, after years of searching, I've finally found this album. L.A.M.F. is an
very difficult to find, rare album. I can't wait to get it and play it on my cd
player. Bunky & Jake were the darlings of the Village in the late 60's and into
the 70's. Well known among fellow musicians and songwriters, but a best-kept
secret from the general population. This is a unique opportunity to hear Bunky &
Jake at their best, and to own a genuine collector album.

Great
music for all ages
Reviewer: Jorden
"I could wait NO LONGER to hear "Lullaby of the Train" Now I can sleep!"
A
pleasant surprise for lovers of the Bunky & Jake 60's albums.
Reviewer: Nelson Richardson
"I greatly miss the 60's albums by these artists, as well as Jake Jacobs' Family
Jewels albums. While trying to get them back, I tried this as a consolation.
Yes, it has the old magic, especially the title track, and "Think for Yourself"
and "Why Me?" The arrangements are simple, so kids can sing along, but it grows
on you nonetheless. The words are witty, the rhythms varied. I am so glad that
Bunky and Jake are still alive, still committed to grace, range, and
professionalism: in short, to very high quality."
Not
just for kids. Great songs, playing and singing.
Reviewer: Howard O.
"This cd is great. Adults and kids can all enjoy this one. The songs, playing
and singing are excellent. If you like Folk Rock/Goodtimey/Lovin' Spoonful type
music this is for you. The King Who Watched Too Much TV and Bing Bong the Subway
Song are still playing in my head."
Amazing
collection of children's songs for children of any age.
Reviewer: Bobo
"For those of you who know the music of Rochelle 'Bunky' Skinner and Alan 'Jake'
Jacob, you know how great their music is and how rare albums are to come by.
This collection of heartwarming children's songs showcases songs about change,
life in the city, the joys and difficulties of growing up in a changing world.
If I had to choose a favorite, it's a tie between The King Who Watched Too Much
TV and Bing Bong The Subway Song."

Bunky and Jake met in art school in New York City during the 1960's. B&J were
soon regulars during the magical Greenwich Village folk scene. Bunky and Jake
appeared at the Bitter End on the bill with Joni Mitchell and David Steinberg
and were written up in Rolling Stone.
Jake, an established singer/songwriter, performed with The Magicians, a band
with Garry Bonner, Alan Gordon and John Townley. The Magicians gained a
following in New York and took over as house
band from the Lovin' Spoonful at the Night Owl Cafe. Felix Pappalardi, future
Cream producer and Mountain member, wanted to join them as their bassist.
When Bunky and Jake teamed up, an incredible songwriting team was born, and now,
through the magic of the internet and digital recording, here are

Customer Reviews (from cajun-style.com)
Unsung masterpiece
This incomprehensibly overlooked album ranks with the best pop music of any
decade, and epitomizes the eclectic-but-rootsy musical spirit of the 60's as
well or better than any of the top folk-blues-rock groups of the era. The
songwriting is very strong, and the covers of songs by Chuck Berry, Rev. Gary
Davis, etc. equal or exceed the originals. Jake is a very hot lead & rhythm
player, and Bunky possesses a great, warm voice.

Overlooked Gem
Jake Jacobs (sometimes guitarist with NRBQ) and a country-blues/folk singer
at a great moment put together this fine album. It has momentum, humor, and
coherence; as a single work it holds together like the Beatles White Album, Pet
Sounds, or Tommy. It's not a hard rocker, but almost a roots rocker; Slow Down
Little Jaguar and Big Boy Pete show this side of their work; I am the Light is a
Rev. Gary Davis number, in an excellent interpretation.
